About
Sophia Pink is a rising junior at Stanford University studying Product Design Engineering. She conducts interdisciplinary research. After working in the Designing Education Lab for a summer, she authored two papers for the largest national conference of engineering educators. Her research on the rhetorical strategies of interest groups won a Lunsford Award for Public Speaking, and Sophia earned the Outstanding Psychology One Scholar award for a research proposal on classroom belonging.
Sophia uses these research insights to inform her design work. At Stanford, she has designed products (Ex: the Alphabetable -- a side table for kids to learn letters), mobile platforms (Ex: an app that improves the volunteer experience at Second Harvest Food Bank), and services (Ex: The Stanford Voter Project, an initiative that boosted student voter engagement for 3,000 Stanford students). This summer, she is eager to bring these research and design mindsets to the road as she speaks to 21-year-olds across the country. This research is funded by a Chappell-Lougee Scholarship.
